Meet & Greet Minutes

September 18, 2008

Kopper Kitchen, Boise, ID

There were 17 members in attendance with 1 guest, Diana R.

Bill W. passed out flyers for the upcoming BarBCruise that explained the itinerary for the day. It also explained who was to bring what to the BBQ.

There were no minutes read from the last meeting.

The treasurer’s report was read:

All of the expenses from the summer have been paid.
There was a deposit made from the game that was played at the Mt. Home parade. Treasures report was passed as read.

Old business:
There was lots of talk about the parade. The overall opinion was that everyone had a lot of fun; the food was great and the weather perfect. It was brought up that we should always have the same position in the line that we have had the past 3 years.

New business:
Bill & Mary Alice talked some more about the BarB Cruise. They asked if everyone was all right with the cruise since it was going to be about a 3-hour drive up there with just a few stops. Everyone was fine with it. They also said that if anyone wanted to bring chairs that would be ok.

There was discussion about Barry taking over the picture part of the website. Everyone in the future should email or copy to disk their pictures that they want to share and give them to Barry.

Connie briefly talked about the cruise for October 25th. It’s a 250-mile drive doing a loop around thru Horseshoe Bend to see the changing of the leaves. The club will meet at Lowes at 9am. She said she would have all the details at the next meeting.

November 28, MT. Home night light parade, everyone is invited over to Barry and Sandra’s afterward.

November 29 is the Boise Holiday Parade. A couple of reminders, no candy and no Santa suits, you can wear a Santa hat. The Theme of this year’s parade is:
Dreaming of a White Christmas.

The Clubs Christmas party is going to be December 13th at Gary’s clubhouse located at 23 W Victory Rd. It will begin at 5pm with a spaghetti dinner, then a gift exchange. There will be a decorating committee chosen at the meeting.

Discussion was started on how the club could make some more money by the end of the year for a charity of their choice. Some of things that were decided were:

    1. on our cruise games, ½ of the pot will go back into the club.
    2. they will start having the silent auctions again, with October being baked goods. November will be what ever the member wants to bring.
    3. the monthly auction will continue, with Tammy bringing something for the next meeting.

There was a lengthy discussion on what charity the club wanted to give money to this year. Last year the club choose a needy family, but the club members did not like the way that turned out, most of them said that the family really got too much and the stuff for the kids was not balanced. They talked about the non-profit organization “Make a Wish Foundation”. It was decided that that would be the one the club chooses for this year. Then there was the discussion on how much to give them, it was decided that they would donate a certain amount of money; a vote was taken and passed. Sandra will get in touch with Larry Gibert about coming to our November meeting again to pick up a check for the Make a Wish Foundation.

Cathy brought in a T-shirt she had made a couple of years ago with her car on it. It is a method called . Lynn and Tammy said they would check into having this done for everyone. They will have more information at the next meeting. It is a unanimous thought that all of the members would like to have new shirts, it would make us seem more of a club at our different functions if we club shirts.

Cathy

Until next time cruise safely....
